GRACE LOUEY is a Chinese / Australian director based in MELBOURNE. She is committed to high-quality storytelling across narrative and branded content.

Her narrative filmmaking explores the inner lives of women with intimacy and nuance, brought to life through a keen visual sensibility shaped by her background in costume design.

Her industry experience includes working as a production assistant and in several costume departments for high-end film and television, including for A24, APPLE TV and NETFLIX. Productions include Silo, Bridgerton, Black Mirror and Alex Garland’s horror movie Men starring Jessie Buckley.

A recent graduate of the MA Filmmaking at Goldsmiths University of London, Grace’s latest short film Portrait screened at twenty one festivals worldwide, winning five, including the Rebel8 award for outstanding emerging female director at FLICKERFEST and the audience favourite at DRESDEN. It was also nominated for the LUCA film award for gender equality.

She particularly enjoys collaborating with Melbourne’s art and design scene and is currently working on multiple projects with research-led design studio BROACHED COMMISSIONS.
